A Case of the Obsessed

Image(s) Courtesy: Revolve Clothing and Cynthina Rowley

In the order importance I have posted what NEEDS to be in my life (I have already wrote about this ring once). I have gone from enamored to OBSESSED planning outfits and life around these items as if they are already belonging to me (which sadly they don't....yet). Life, in the form of a blown out tire, has gotten in the way of me and these items. So, the in the meantime I am hoping posting about said obsessions will make it better (or worse, we shall see).

Anatomy of an Outfit --Mid Summer, I Mean, End of Summer Nights Dream

Image(s) Courtesy: Bambi (ps love that you can see her shadow)

With today being the last day of August I wanted to wear my favorite summer dress. The colors, the cut, everything about it is light and free spirited (things that I am not). Anyway, the dress is by a designer that I have been obsessed with lately, Leifsdottir. They have the most amazing prints!

The other thing I love about this outfit is the clutch, something I've had for years and years by designer Onna Ehrlich. It's such a timeless bag and the print is always in style and on season.

Lastly, my i phone case which is a top the clutch, Jagger Edge, OBSESSED! I have a weakness for anything studded.

Mid Day Jewelry Shake Down

I start off so strong and then gradually things shift off. They always make their way back home though (home being on me).

Anatomy of an Outfit -- Teetering on the Brink

Image(s) Courtesy: MM

So, I, usually, in life, walk a fine line between being hyper functional and completely tragic. Today I was extra teetering on the brink, literally in terms of ensemble (and possibly figuratively?). The amazing shoes had me just about to fall all day but never actually making it to the ground (yay).

The black dress is Juicy and an amazing staple I have had for years. The cardigan is Anthropologie (love the print and color) and Madewell gold zipper capri's. The amazing wedge shoes are Be & D and completely unrealistic for my life but so beloved that they must exist even if only for brief appearances.

Accessories have been seen except for stoned Roseark ring and J. Crew art deco bracelet (which people always seem to think is fanicer then it is).

Jacket Lust- Thakoon Edition

I have been seeing this jacket pop up since its runway debut in magazines and websites and I finally ran into said jacket in person -- and it was everything and more. I stopped in one of my favorite LA boutiques Beckley and made my friend try the jacket on. The flair tuxedo ish tail in the back is to die for. LOVE!

Anatomy of an Outfit -- Ladies who Lunch

Image(s) Courtesy: Bambi

Some days (or most) I wish I was a lady who lunched. Someone who leisurely eats a salad, whilst sipping an iced tea, deciding what boutique to hit next, or what a lovely game of tennis that was this morning, or whether I should go to St. Barts (again) for my next vacation. This outfit evokes that delusional line of thinking. In an ideal world those wedges would be sky high heels, nude colored, but because I'm not exactly dainty and delicate, heels are for the days when the most walking I do is from my car to the office.

Anyway, back onto the topic at hand -- today's outfit is a dress I love from Anthropologie, paired with a great Madewell cardigan (love the gold buttons). I'm also particularly fond of my giant rock like Kara Ross ring. The gold, its shape, the subtle peach stones, it's something I adore.

ps the fur Phillip Lim bracelet wrap is going to be a staple from now until the forseable future

Anatomy of an Outfit -- Kiss with a Fist

Images(s) Courtesy: Niki

"A kiss with a fist is better then none," oddly applicable for two reasons:
1) Florence and the Machine released new music today (yay!) (the above is a lyric of hers)
2) Marc by Marc Jacob dress with kisses, that oddly enough has carried me through the seasons and proved to be a staple in my wardrobe.

So, I paired that with a polka dot top. I love the clash of the patterns and the fact that because they are like colors it kind of ish goes together (at least for me, in my head).

Next I'm calling out my vintage sunglasses from a favorite store of mine, Hotel De Ville. These glasses from several years back are really what began my appreciation for vintage eye wear.

The other item which I want to give some love is the Aris Geldis necklace, which was something I stalked at a boutique for over a year. It continues to be relevant and amazing year after year, season after season. It never gets tired.

Sheer Through -- Inspiration

Beyond loving the sheer trend. Loving printed sheer that has both texture and print. So many fabulous things to choose from but I am focusing on an amazing Stella dress, totally out of budget. But I found an amazing Kate Spade top that definitely captures the feel and look of the designer dud.

Anatomy of an Outfit -- Sunday Funday

The summer is nearing its end and nothing is better then a day with the family in Malibu. Today's outfit was meant to last all day (sometimes we wear things that we know are only going to last us a couple hours).

I'm only going to call out a few things. The worlds most perfect sandals from Anthropologie, and amazing 3.1 Phillip Lim fur bracelet (blue with brown leather).

I've also included some of my favorite finds from the day -- leather gloves and necklace from Alice and Oliva.

Anatomy of an Outfit -- Lazy Friday

It's Friday, I'm tired. So, a scarf, a basic black dress and a good hoodie will about do it for me. The scarf I will admit is pretty fantastic, Theodora and Callum. And the hoodie, another great piece is A.L.C. The accessories are CC Skye and Juicy. The purse is a favorite designer, Jack Rabbit. That fringed purse, like some men, gets better with age.

Anatomy of an Outfit-- I'm with the band

For some reason this outfit, though clearly I'm delusional, makes me feel like a rock star and or groupie. Maybe its the black, or the studded boots but clearly I'm meant to be on a stage or a side of a stage whilst wearing this.

Any who, the top is LF from a crazy sale they had. The skirt is one of the oldest things I own and still wear on a regular basis. The boots are from a couple seasons back, Rosegold. I saw Sienna Miller wearing them and freaked (I think it may have been around the time she was playing Edie Sedgwick). The accessories of note are the vintage green jem bracelet, that piece is Lulu Frost and then the studded rings are both Noir. Oh, and the glasses (yes, they are prescription) are Tom Ford, swoon.

Ready for Battle -- accessory report

If your accessories can harm you or someone around you, then rest assured, you are on trend. Personally, the more dangerous I am to myself because of a bracelet or a ring, the better (I'm not one for cuddling). The below pieces are AH-mazing -- it would be accurate to say I'm obsessed -- if those items were people, someone should be worried (luckily, they aren't).

PS I have the headband in white

Anatomy of an Outfit -- Leopard print goes with EVERYTHING

Images Courtesy: Bambi

To prove my theory that leopard goes with everything-- I give you today's outfit. A Navajo-ish pleated silk skirt paired with a leopard t-shirt from Urban Outfitters. The secret is that I pulled the outfit together with 1) a neutral though embellished cardigan and 2) accessories that picked up the colors from the skirt.

The necklace is a vintage piece that was put together with various found pieces (though I didn't myself make the necklace). I am also wearing my Unearthen bracelet/watch pyramid (something I love dearly) and then an awesome bracelet I stumbled upon at Free People. The rings are a jaguar and the other a navy stoned statement ring from Barneys( true story is that I dropped the delicate fancy ring years ago and thought it was ruined but it actually made it look more interesting, go figure).

The moral of the story is that leopard (does) can go with EVERYTHING (as it should)!

Gypsy Dream

Images Courtesy: Free People

Free People is very hit or miss for me, but this season, it's as if they've inceptioned my mind, designing a collection that makes me wish I was a Gypsy in Europe. The textures, the colors, the design -- literally a love affair with inanimate objects is taking place. I picked only a couple pieces that are out of control amazing. If I could come back in another life as an accessory, right now I'm thinking that Turban would be worthy enough to encapsulate my soul (dramatic I know, but I can't quite express my delight and excitement).

Sigh. Lust. Repeat.

Sigh. Lust. Repeat. will be an ongoing feature. The expression is used to describe pieces that make you swoon, giddy like a little school girl. But, they like most good things in life, are out of reach (mostly because they are costly and as of now, unattainable).

In today's installment, meet $1800.00 vintage Chanel sunglasses found at Resurrection.

Anatomy of an Outfit -- prints, prints and more prints

Images Courtesy: Bambi

I am all about prints and mixing and matching them. The geisha skirt paired with the Madewell stripped chain shirt is unlikely, but fun. Then, for good measure, I put a navy collared vest over that you can't really see in the pic (but I promise it's there). Then as for accesories, I layered two necklaces, a free people mini-fringe piece with a horn that I make-shifted together from an purchase from a farmers market and something from Urban Outfitters that broke. As for the rings, which I think need to be highlighted -- the stone/green glass ring is from a boutique in New York forever ago and the other is from one of my absolute favorite designers, A Peace Treaty. I saw it several years back in their upcoming collection and I emailed every rep from the company, associated with the company, basically anyone affiliated with that ring to make it mine.

And, the piece de la resistance, Lola (yes, I named her), the pineapple clutch. If that amazingness functioning as a purse doesn't make you happy, then your fashion soul is dead. She screams summer and fun and happens to be neon so it would be impossible for her to be anything but fabulous (designed by Kate Spade).

Blazing Trails

I NEED this blazer in my life. DVF, you are amazing.

Sigh. Lust. Repeat.

Light as a Feather

Feathers are flying this season. Whether they are clipped into your hair, a pendant on a necklace, or outlined on a shirt-- hippie chic is hot. The thing I love about feather is that they can be chic or they can be cool. I air on the side of feathers = glamour. So below are some picks that I love -- on trend yet timeless and fabulous.

This pump is so Mad Men yet could be amazing with jeans and a tee.

This necklace is out of control. The mixture of materials and textures, unreal. And the fact that you could rock this with a black dress or an amazing print (think Ikat) -- it's the perfect piece to ivest in!

Polar Bear

Sooooo, I look like a polar bear today, what are you going to do ?

Mid Day Jewelry Shake Down

What usually happens is about somewhere in the middle of the day I look over to the side of my desk and somehow all my accesories have made their way off of me. Because I am both a fashionista and a working professional, sometimes the giant earrings get in the way of the phone or the heavy rings prevent fast typing and occasionally a giant necklace is pulling my head down. I guess thats what happens when you are a real person in the real world. I would like to be a mannequin but sadly I'm not-- at least not physically.

Anatomy of an outfit-- my version of color blocking ish

This is my version of color blocking. I'm not really a white fan, at least not on me, but this Joie top paired with the Ten Over Six clutch is my ode to summer (and I think it works). The wedge boots are one of the best wardrobe investments I've made --they are seasonless and walkable, what more could you ask for?!

And then I'm giving a special shout out to my vintage sunglasses, which make me ridiculously happy and my eye glass necklace, hands down one of the best things I own. I've had it for years and it actually went missing from my life (for over a year) in which I went on witch hunt accusing anyone and everyone of taking thy beloved necklace (my sister especially, sorry This).
