Anatomy of an Outfit -- It EsCAPEs Me

The Lauren Moffat cape is like my magical shield against any bad. It makes me so happy. The red piping, the gold buckles, everything about it is perfection.

Under the can do no wrong cape is a JCrew Cardigan, with a JCrew blouse (that has a lovely bow) and actually a JCrew skirt -- this realization is happening to me as I type this. This almost never happens to me...intrigue. To be fair all these pieces were purchased at totally different/random times which is why I didn't till now realize. Noted (for myself).

Anatomy of an Outfit -- Skirting the Issue

This Free People skirt is everything. It's one of those pieces that feels like I have always had-- as if we were never apart -- life never existed without her. The skirt is so frilly and girly so that paired with the wolf sweater and the plaid blazer was unexpected and fun for me.

A Case of The Obsessed -- Iquitos Necklace

Let's be real, there are a lot of things I want, few things I need. This I need. This necklace was literally made for me (well not literally, but you get the point). Green, check. Gold, check. Sparkle, check. Giant, check.

Oh Anthropologie, what are you doing to me (besides making me a more fabulous version of myself)?!

Anatomy of an Outfit -- Alexa Chung is my Religion

I'm not usually a model groupie but a style groupie, maybe. Call me Kate Hudson and Alexa Chung Stillwater (who doesn't love an Almost Famous reference). Anyway, the skirt is Madewell, a brand which Chung has made a must have label. She has perfected the layering, mixing prints, hipster-chic look. I in turn tried to mirror my version of that.

So, over the Madewell skirt a Tucker leopard burn out blouse, and a vest with fleece collar. The boots are Michael Kors. And as for accessories --- the necklace is a vintage wanna be Tom Binns piece, a Kate Spade bow bracelet stacked with a giant gold watch.

Anatomy of an Outfit -- Sparkle is my Name and Sequins are My Game

A little sparkle can make or break an outfit. I give you todays ensemble. What makes this outfit is the fabulous day to night, trendy to chic, all around amazing, all star Kate Spade purse. It's leather and sequins, um, let me repeat, leather and sequins.

The amazing bag over the Tibi sweater puffer sleeve vest wrap, with the polka top dot underneath = happiness. Some other notables are the sunnies, vintage Nina Ricci. There are other things, but they are to be highlighted at another time.

When Perfect Outfits Happen to Good People...

Image Courtesy: Myself (via Bambi's camera)

Perfect outfits do happen, it's true, and usually they happen to good people or I would like to think so.

In any case, the above is Niki and she is wearing a perfect outfit. I never get tired of a bow, and a good bow, forget about it.

Now, the outfit: first, the white blouse (Express!) is fantastic, the Kate Spade bow cardigan, the navy mini skirt, textured tights, sky high wedge oxfords = perfection.

A Case of the Obsessed -- Kelly Wearstler

I first became enamored with Kelly Wearstler when watching a Bravo show many years back. She was a judge and had the most exquisite taste that was funky yet classic. The fact that she has moved into the fashion world makes me giddy. Everything is amazing but here are three fall down drag out lusty worthy pieces.

Anatomy of an Outfit -- A Night Out with the Girls

I am girl who dresses for other girls -- which is probably another reason on a long list that contribute to my singledom. But I love this outfit. The dress, Foley & Corina, is something I lusted after for a LONG time before it became mine. It's lace and ruffled and just all around amazing. I paired that with my new fave plaid blazer. You cannot really see the amazing vintage blue lucite necklace that was given to me by a dear family friend the other night -- that will definitely be blogged about more thoroughly at a different time!

Then I mixed it up with even more prints with the snakeskin clutch, which picks up the Givenchy cuff. The Rosegold boots topped off the outfit.

Anyway, this is an ensemble that I think girls like that men probably can't and or don't care/ appreciate.

Sigh. Lust. Repeat. -- Isabel Marant Fringe Boots

If I could give birth to an item and then raise it -- it would be those boots. I need these like NO ONE'S BUSINESS. NEED, need, no but for real, NEED!

Anatomy of an Outfit -- Plaid is the New Leopard

I am having a plaid moment. So, the plaid blazer paired over the plaid top really excites me. It's unexpected yet fun. J.Crew Blazer and Madewell top (with a prior documented skirt and shoes).

Lots of fab accessories that will be showcased later.

Antatomy of an Outfit -- That's Why They Call Me a Professional

Image(s) Courtesy: Bambi

I feel so professional today -- black, blazer, heels -- totally playing the part.

The dress is a great piece I've had FOR years by BCBG -- and I wear it year round. Blazer has been seen before, but love the stripes. As for heels, they are Loeffer Randal that I stalked and waited for them to go on sale. And what's exciting is even though they are from several seasons back, they are so on trend suddenly.

Jewls I layered a vintage necklace with a shiny Lia Sophia longer necklace. And of course a bracelet stacked with my vintage watch and a couple rings.

Anatomy of an Outfit -- Let there be Light

I usually surround myself in darkness but, there is light, and lots of it (at least in this photo).

Its night and I just finished a mexican dinner, so somehow I was compelled to put sunglasses on. I don't know why, ask me two margaritas ago, but anyway, todays outfit.

First the fabu Topshop knit coral goldish sweater, LOVE. Such a great purchase. Under that a black tank and a taupe silk skirt from J. Crew. Shoes, which have been seen before, Rosegold. And everything else you can't really see, which maybe, given the circumstance, might be best.

Happy end of Monday.

Anatomy of an Outfit -- Cause I'm a Gypsy-ish

It was Emmy weekend and Saturday I hit up a gifting suite at a swanky estate in Hancock Park. I decided I wanted to look breezy and stylish but without trying too hard.

So, I paired a very of the moment Ella Moss dress (which is super easy to wear) with a favorite Madewell Cardigan.

Then, shoes I did navy wedge booties. And jewelry, the main attraction is the lust-a-licious Givenchy nude leather gold hardware cuff. I just want to stare at that the bracelet (it feels insignificant calling it a bracelet) and bat my eye lashes.

ps the photo is a professional one by my dad who is launching his photography business -- povar.com

Nail Art Insanity

So, first off, I haven't been wearing cute outfits hence the lack of Anatomy of an Outfit posting -- but the hostages, aka my favorite clothes, have just been freed from the dry cleaner because pay day came --- so yeah for that.

Onto the post topic-- manicures and the amazing insanity that is happening with nail art. I have decided my life is going to be ombre-ified. First, the hair got did and now, the NAILS!

I did purple ombre with a light glitter gold overlay. I was going to add 3-d bows on-top, but I held off....for now.

Feel free to gaze on longingly.

Reasonable Request

This will be an on going feature of reasonable priced items that are totally lust worthy. Also, lets quickly define reasonable-- under 300$ for a PIECE is reasonable ish (according to only myself).

Image(s) Courtesy (in order of apperance): Boutique to You, Shopbop

The first item is an awesome clutch by House Of Harlow. Love the studs and option between red or black. The above image is in red but I really love the black (which is the link to buy).

I think this top could be considered pricy, but I am so in love with it and isn't outrageous in price. Love LOVE the shoulder cut out this season.

Anatomy of an Outfit -- 10 Minute Mad Dash

Image(s) Courtesy: Bambi

I'm not a morning person, and that is putting as much PR spin on that statement as possible. And because today is Monday getting up is even harder. So, when I awoke this AM well WELL past rising time, I had to throw something together quickly. The end result isn't bad given the time constraint.

The shift dress is from where else, Anthropologie and I belted it with a DVF piece that was such a good investment. Over that is a lace mauve Urban Outfitter bomber jacket. Then because we are into September, its boot time again, so I threw on my timeless, well worn in Coach boots.

As for accessories I threw on my Unearthen watch stacked with a J.Crew bracelet. And then my Kara Ross giant rock ring and on the other hand two different Dara Ettinger rings.

Off the Beaten Path -- Jewelry addition

There is so much that I love, but I boiled down some designers that I am really digging that you may or may not have heard of. Maybe in a boutique or two but they are are flying just under the radar (think Pamela Love before she blew up).

All For The Mountains
So quirky but such accessible pieces that are statement making yet timeless. Here are my picks.

Elizabeth Knight
Awesome design and great structure. Some pieces are odder then others, but here are my picks.

Doloris Petunia
Friendship bracelets have become such a raging trend but this designer elevates it to such an amazing level. Her pieces are art and interesting and special. Here are my picks.

A Peace Treaty (already broke out)
A great company who has an awesome purpose behind their business. In addition, everything from their scarves to their jewelry is thoughtful and effortless yet so stylish.

Unearthen (already broke out)
I have a watch by Unearthen and it is one of the most fabulous things I own. Their pieces are interesting conversation starting pieces. They are also great layering and items that will forever be in style. Below are my picks.

Anatomy of an Outfit -- Urban Outfit Me

Image(s) Courtesy: Bambi

I don't know what people did before Urban Outfitters. It's everything.

I paired a great printed Urban top with a basic black skirt and a black H&M cardigan. The colors on the top are so vibrant and fun that this outfit needed little else.

Jewls wise I layered a Kara Ross horn necklace with a silver vintage inspired piece. Then I did a horn/gold cuff with my vintage stone watch. Rings are Noir on one hand and Roseark stone ring on the other. The earrings are fantastic silver fringed clip on hoops. And finally the sunnies are The Row.

Oh Tibi -- My Heart Skips a Beat

Image(s) Courtesy: Tibi

Tibi is always a must have with amazing pieces. But this season they have out down themselves with one item in particular. The fur convertible vest/coat is chronicled into my head filed under NEED.

1) its fur 2) it goes from a coat to a vest 3) the color palette -- I mean, my heart is aflutter.
